“Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking.” 2 Peter 3:1 NIV

By calling his readers “dear friends,” Peter was expressing his love and tender concern for these friends because they had a sincere saving faith relationship with Jesus. Whether the first letter mentioned refers to 1 Peter or a lost and unknown letter, Peter had written before to remind and encourage his dear friends to think wholesome, sincere, and uncontaminated thoughts. Instead of being enticed by the false teachers and their distorted truths, believers are to ponder on things that are pure, good, and righteous.

Lord Jesus, fill my thoughts with the wholesome truths found in Your Word, the Bible. Help me to apply these truths so that I may live a godly lifestyle that glorifies You.
