“And if He didn't spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others, when He brought a flood on the world of the ungodly.” 2 Peter 2:5 HCSB

The second of Peter’s three illustrations concerning God’s past judgment is that of the ancient world flood. Having been judged, the wicked, evil, and rebellious people who refused to obey God were punished and totally destroyed. The righteous, Noah and his family, were saved. Because in the past God brought the flood as punishment of evil and saved the righteous, He will judge the false teachers and all who continue to do evil. Yet He will save those who repent and trust in Him through faith in Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus, help me to preach and teach the need to repent from doing evil and turn instead to living in righteousness. Let me share with others Your gospel offer of forgiveness and salvation.
