“The person who lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten the cleansing from his past sins.” 2 Peter 1:9 HCSB

The believer who does not continue to grow in his life of faith, does not diligently seek the qualities, virtues, and characteristics of a godly life, this person acts as though he is blind to spiritual things. This person is focused on his own world and not on the things of Christ. The term “shortsighted” means he sees only what is near to him, and it also means he shuts his eyes. Therefore the person is “blind” because he shuts his eyes to spiritual things. This person has deliberately closed his eyes so he cannot see and remember that Christ has forgiven and cleansed him of his sins.

Lord Jesus, I desire that my eyes be opened to see the spiritual things, growing in my life with You. Keep me focused on You, Your Word, and Your mission.
