“So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.” 2 Peter 1:19 NASB
The “prophetic word” was often used to refer to the Old Testament in general and to those passages related to the coming day of the Lord, salvation, and judgment specifically. This prophetic word and all Scripture is sure, reliable, dependable, and certain. Peter declares that we need to pay close and careful attention and heed the Scriptures, for they are the light shining in this dark world. They will shine until the day of the Lord dawns. Then all will see the Bright and Morning Star, the Lord Jesus, who will come to judge the world and bring deliverance and salvation for His people.
Lord Jesus, the Bible is the light for my path, guiding me through the darkness of this world. Help me to learn and obey Your Word as I look forward to Your coming again.
