“And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.” 2 John 5 NASB

John gives a request with urgency to it. His request is not new, unlike many of the false teachers who were saying they had a new word of truth. John’s request was the old command given by Jesus to his disciples that they love one another even as He loved them. This love is an act of the will and not emotions. It is action and attitude rather than feelings. This love is one that seeks the best for others and treats others the same way God treats you. This love is a fruit produced by the Holy Spirit in the lives of the believers.

Lord Jesus, produce Your love in my life today that others would see Jesus in me. I desire to walk in Your truth and in Your love.
