“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NASB

In this passage there are three commands. First, we are to fill our lives with joy. This joy comes from a deliberate choice of our will when we focus on God’s love and grace and not on ourselves and our circumstances. Second, we are to be in a constant attitude of prayer. This entails having an awareness of God’s presence, thinking about God, praising Him, and seeking His guidance. Third, no matter what happens, in all circumstances, we are to be thankful. This thankfulness comes from a total trust in God’s sovereignty and grace.

Lord Jesus, fill my life with Your presence, love, peace, and joy. Help me to express gratitude for all You have done for me and for all who believe in You.
