“Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11 NASB
Peter describes the gifts God gives us as functioning in two broad areas, speaking and serving. When a believer preaches, teaches, or talks about God, he must carefully and truthfully share the Word of God. It is God’s Word found in the Bible that can change a person and make a difference in the world. When a believer serves, he must do so through the strength and power of God. The ultimate purpose for all the believer says and does is to bring glory to God who deserves all praise.
Lord Jesus, help me to speak of You and serve others through Your strength. Let all I say and do bring glory and honor to You, my Savior and Lord.
