“For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands. Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear.” 1 Peter 3:7 NASB
Peter turns now to the husbands, giving us several important tasks. First, the husband is to live with his wife which means that abiding and dwelling in a close relationship is a priority. Second, he is to understand his wife in such a way as to know her heart and soul. Third, he must recognize her weaker physical strength in comparison to his strength. Fourth, he must honor her as a priceless treasure and fellow believer whom God loves. Fifth, if he does not treat her with love and respect, then his own spiritual life will suffer.
Lord Jesus, I do love and honor my wife. Help me to be the husband I should be by demonstrating Your grace and love in my life.
