“For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.” 1 Peter 3:17 NASB
Peter was writing this letter to believers who were being persecuted and were suffering for their faith in Jesus. One should expect to suffer the consequences for doing wrong. But to suffer punishment for doing right is suffering unjustly. The believers were being called to suffer unjustly because of their faith. They may not have understood why God would allow such injustice, yet the believer must be committed to following God’s will.
Lord Jesus, in this world that is increasingly hostile to faith, help me to do what is right in Your sight. I desire to follow and obey Your Word and Your will no matter the consequences.
