“And keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.” 1 Peter 3:16 NASB
As believers defend the faith their lives must reflect their words. Peter describes this defense as a good conscience or a clear conscience which is that inner voice that guides and brings awareness of right and wrong. He writes that believers must live a lifestyle of integrity and consistency. This exemplary life of faith will force those who slander the believer to be ashamed of their persecution of such an upright person.
Lord Jesus, help my conscience and my life to be guided by Your Word and the Holy Spirit. Help me then live in righteousness and bring glory to You.
