“But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts.” 1 Peter 3:14-15a NASB
There are times when believers will be persecuted for their faith in God and for standing for what is right and true in God’s sight. Peter describes how believers should react to this persecution. They are to have assurance of God’s blessing and watch care over them even in the midst of their suffering. They are not to be intimidated by the threats of those who can only hurt the body. They are not to be frightened and disturbed by this work of evil. Instead they must patiently endure and yield to the Lordship of Christ in their lives.
Lord Jesus, I am so easily worried and even tormented by those who vehemently oppose Your truths. Help me instead to totally trust You and to stand firm for what is right.
