“For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” 1 Peter 2:25 NIV
Sheep are easily distracted and tend to go their own way. They wander away from the fold and the shepherd. Like sheep, people are also selfish, seeking our own way. We have strayed from God and His will for us. Because Jesus bore our sins on the cross (verse 24), we can return to Him, finding forgiveness and cleansing from our sins. Jesus, as the Great Shepherd, will care, protect, and provide for all who trust in Him. He is also the Overseer or Guardian of our souls, now and for eternity. No matter what suffering believers face, we can endure because Jesus is our protector.
Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to You, seeking to follow and obey Your Word. I am thankful for Your shepherding and watch care over me and all who trust in You.
