“For, ‘all flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls off, but the word of the Lord abides forever.’” 1 Peter 1:24-25a NASB
Life is short! Peter quotes here from the Old Testament prophet Isaiah about the frailty of life. He compares human life, flesh, to grass and its flower. With the right amount of water, warm temperatures, and sunlight, the grass grows quickly, even producing a flower. But even more quickly with no water and under the hot sun, the grass will wither, dry up, and die. In comparison, human life is brief. It sprouts, grows, and dies in a short period of a few years of time. Because it is fleeting, life is precious! Live life carefully and wisely by following what will endure forever, God’s Word!
Lord Jesus, I am amazed at how quickly my life is passing. Help me live each day prepared for eternity by living a life obedient to Your Word
