“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.” 1 Peter 1:14 NIV

Peter stresses the point that believers, children of God, must obey God’s Word. A believer has trusted in Christ and now must obey Him. The believer’s attitude, mind-set, and lifestyle must radically change from his old way. He can no longer be conformed, molded, or patterned by the old evil ways. Paul, in Romans 12:1-2, also uses this idea of not conforming to the old ways but being transformed to describe this change of lifestyle. While the old, evil desires will try to press the believer back into the mold of doing wrong, the believer must trust and obey Jesus Christ his Lord.

Lord Jesus, help me to daily live out my faith in You. Help me not give into the pressure of the old evil ways of doing things but to be faithful to You and obedient to Your Word.
