“Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13 NASB
Because of the great salvation the believers have received from God, they are to set their hope and longing for that day when salvation is completed by the second coming of Jesus Christ. This desire to see God’s grace fulfilled in all the believers’ lives should cause the believers to prepare their minds and to be sober. The believer is to be ready for action by preparing his mind. This mental preparation is exemplified by in depth study of God’s Word. The believer is to be sober, mentally alert, and self-controlled. He is to be sensible and clear thinking, acting on sound judgment.
Lord Jesus, I long for Your coming. In the meantime, help me to live each day, prepared to follow Your commands with clear understanding of Your Word.
