“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.” 1 John 5:3 NASB
When a believer loves God with all his heart, soul, and mind, he will want to obey God and keep His commands. Obedience comes from a heart full of love for God and thus a desire to please Him. Keeping His commandments will not be a crushing blow, but pleasing sense of honor. While God’s standards are very high, He gives the grace and strength needed to obey to those who love and trust Him. The consequences of obedience include a wonderful relationship with the Holy God, while disobedience leads to trouble, pain, and destruction.
Lord Jesus, I do love You and want to obey Your Word. Help me this day to depend on Your strength so I can do what is pleasing in Your sight.
