“Now this is the confidence we have before Him: whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14 HCSB

Because the believer has assurance of eternal life, he also has confidence in his prayers. He can boldly come into God’s presence and fearlessly share his request with God. His request will be in line with God’s will. In prayer the believer seeks to set aside his will and desires and seeks God’s view point. He is committed to being obedient to God’s commands and to follow God’s plan. The believer surrenders to God’s will with the same attitude as Jesus prayed, “Thy will be done.” God hears this type of commitment prayer. “Hears” carries the idea of God positively hearing and answering this prayer.

Lord Jesus, thank You for allowing me to share my heartfelt burdens and concerns with You in prayer. Help me be in tune with Your will so that I might pray effectively.
