“If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.” 1 John 4:20 HCSB

Plain and simple, if one loves God, then that love must flow out to others. One cannot love God and hate others. Love and hate cannot be in the same heart. Love for the invisible God must be demonstrated by loving the visible believer. “Brother” in this verse is a believer that is consistently near you. Jesus taught that the greatest commandment was to love God with all your heart, and that the second was to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus also taught that others will know we are His disciples by our love for one another.

Lord Jesus, I do love You. Help me to love others by showing concern, care, compassion, and forgiveness to those around me today.
