“There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears has not reached perfection in love.” 1 John 4:18 HCSB

Just as the sunlight drives away the darkness of night, a mature love drives out fear. Mature love and fear cannot coexist. A believer whose life is completely filled with God’s love does not fear the future because his trust is in God who loves him. One who is fearful is dreading unknown pain, terror, torment, and punishment. Yet one who has complete trust in God is secure in God’s great love. Thus, he can face the future of the unknown completely confident, secure in God’s hands.

Lord Jesus, fill my life with Your great love and drive away fear. Give me boldness to face this day with a loving heart that leads to putting love in action.
