1 John 4:16
The Upward Look

“And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” 1 John 4:16 NASB
We – John, those who had seen Jesus, and those who later believed and read this letter – have knowledge of how God demonstrated His love by sending Jesus to die on the cross to pay for our sins. This knowledge leads one to believe, that is to totally trust in God’s love, for one’s salvation. The results of this knowledge and belief continue to have an effect. We know and keep knowing, and we believe and keep believing that Jesus provides the only way to have an abiding relationship with God.
Lord Jesus, Your life was characterized by love. Help me to reflect this love in my life as I deal with others today.
