“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10 NASB
Our love for God pales in comparison to God’s love for us. He loves us in spite of our sinfulness and rebellion. Even though we were unworthy, His love for us caused Him to send Jesus to die on the cross, taking the punishment we deserved for our sins. Jesus was the atoning sacrifice that paid the price for our sins. He took God’s wrath for our sins on Himself. Though we deserved death and eternal separation from God, God’s great love provided the way for those who would trust in Jesus to have eternal life and peace with God.
Lord Jesus, I can barely grasp hold of how much You love me and what You did for me on the cross. Help me to reflect Your great love in my life this day.
