“I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie comes from the truth.” 1 John 2:21 HCSB
John is encouraging the believers that know the truth that Jesus is Savior and Lord. It is because they know the truth that he is writing to them. They have not been fooled by the false teachers who are spreading lies about Jesus and twisting the message of the gospel to fit their own doctrine. Truth and lies do not mix. The believers must be careful not to buy into any of the “new truths” the false teachers are spreading. Instead of trying to learn new secrets, the believers must keep believing and obeying the gospel they have already trusted.
Lord Jesus, I know that You are my Savior and Lord. Help me to keep practicing the commands found in Your Word, the Bible.
