“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.” 1 John 2:16 NASB
The evil world draws one in with all its alluring ways. “Lust” is a deep desire, a craving, for something. “Lust of the flesh” is a longing to satisfy one’s physical nature. It is sensuality, things that please one’s senses. “Lust of the eyes” is a craving for things that are seen. It is covetousness, desire for material things. “Pride of life” is an arrogant greed and trust in wealth and possessions. It is self-sufficiency, boastfully relying on what one’s own self can do. These values are not from God the Father.
Lord Jesus, I desire to do what is pleasing in Your sight and not to follow after evil pleasures. I give my life to honor You.
