“I am writing to you, fathers, because you have come to know the One who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have had victory over the evil one.” 1 John 2:13 HCSB

John is writing to fathers, those who are mature in the faith, because they have known Jesus Christ who established the gospel and is from eternity. The mature in the faith have spent much time walking with the Lord and spending much time in Bible study and prayer. They have a long and ever-deepening experience with Him working in their lives. John is writing to young men, who were well-grounded in the faith, because they have won the battle with evil. They have learned how to live a victorious Christian life.

Lord Jesus, thank you for teaching me how to win the battle over evil. Keep me digging deeper in Your Word and daily walking ever closer to You.
