“I will establish a place for My people Israel and plant them, so that they may live there and not be disturbed again. Evildoers will not continue to oppress them as they formerly have ever since the day I ordered judges to be over My people Israel. I will also subdue all your enemies.” 1 Chronicles 17:9-10a HCSB

God had chosen for Himself a specific people, the children of Israel. He had given them a specific land, the Promise Land, in which they would live and worship Him. Even though these people had been treated harshly by other nations, God had protected them. God was working through King David to secure for them a time of peace in the land. God continues to watch over His people until that day in the future when His peace will reign at the second coming of His Messiah King.

Lord Jesus, in You I find my peace even in the midst of evil oppression. I long for the day when, over all the world, You will reign as King.
