“Now, O LORD, let the word that You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house be established forever, and do as You have spoken. . . . For You, O my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build for him a house.” 1 Chronicles 17:23, 25 NASB

David draws his prayer to a conclusion with two interwoven thoughts. First, in amazement he acknowledges the promise that God has given him and his house. In trusting faith, he prays that God’s word, His will, would indeed be done just as He promised. He is humbled that God would bless him and would build and establish David’s house forever. This promise of an eternal house would be fulfilled through the coming of the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus, You do keep Your promises, and may Your will be done this day. I trust You, my Sovereign King, to rule and reign in my life today.
