“Then Nathan said to David, ‘Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.’” 1 Chronicles 17:2 NASB
Speaking more as an advisor to the king than as a prophet of God, Nathan encouraged David to follow his heart. Both Nathan and David sought to follow God. When David expressed his desire to glorify God by the building of a temple, Nathan was quick to agree with the king. However, Nathan had not heard from God on this particular issue. What appeared to be a great plan was not exactly what God wanted to be done. Even godly followers must constantly seek directions from God.
Lord Jesus, even while I seek to do Your will, I need to listen carefully for Your guidance. Continue to lead me so that, in all that I do, I may glorify You.
