“Then King David went in, sat in the LORD's presence, and said, Who am I, LORD God, and what is my house that You have brought me this far?” 1 Chronicles 17:16 HCSB

Having heard the Word of the Lord through Nathan the prophet, David immediately and humbly goes to the Lord in prayer. While God had brought David from a lowly shepherd to be the king, yet David declared he was nothing in comparison to the Sovereign Lord God. He affirmed that he was unworthy to receive such a great promise from the Lord. We too are all unworthy to receive God’s gift of grace. Yet God, in His love for us, provides forgiveness and salvation through faith in the Messiah.

Lord Jesus, who am I that You, the Messiah, the King of Kings, would love me? I acknowledge that my worth is found only through Your righteousness, and by Your grace.
