“He who was delivered up because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.” Romans 4:25 NASB

Jesus willingly gave Himself up to be crucified on a cross. He willingly died a horrible, torturous death on a cruel cross because of our transgressions, taking the punishment for our sins. Transgression means to overstep, or go aside, the law. Each of us has overstepped the law and become a lawbreaker. We must pay the penalty for breaking God’s law which is death. However, Jesus took our place and our punishment by dying on the cross to pay for our sins.

Lord Jesus, I am amazed that You gave Your life for me! I humbly bow in gratitude for Your wonderful deed, the cross of Christ.
