“I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, LORD, make me live in safety.” Psalm 4:8 HCSB

Concluding this Psalm, David is able to lie down and sleep in tranquility because he is completely trusting in God alone for his safety. He can rest even in the midst of the tumult and perils surrounding him, because his confidence is not in man but in God. God has calmed his heart and given him peace and contentment even while his adversaries seek to destroy him. God’s servants can have true joy and peace to face the direst of circumstances because their trust is in God.

Lord Jesus, no matter what I may face today, I am trusting in Your grace to see me through. I rest in peace knowing that You are my refuge and my salvation.
