“I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.” Psalm 3:5 NIV

In spite of the fact that David was running for his life, he trusted in God to protect and to take care of him. His assurance of God’s watchful care over him allowed him to lie down and sleep. He could sleep in the midst of his troubles with his enemies all around him because he trusted that God would be his shield. He awoke again because the Lord had sustained him.

Lord Jesus, even in the midst of troubles, I lie down and sleep in peace knowing You are there. Thank you for being my Keeper and Sustainer.
