“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am alone and afflicted.” Psalm 25:16 HCSB

Burdened by his dire circumstances, David cries out for God’s protection and comforting presence. He yearns for God to look at him, to intently gaze at him, and thus for God to focus His attention on David and his needs. In his despair David feels lonely as if he is totally alone in his distress and afflictions. He pleads for God to be gracious and to show him mercy for his hope is in God alone. It is God who will provide, will sustain, and will deliver him through these troubled times.

Lord Jesus, at times I too feel alone and in despair when facing troubling times. At those times let me be drawn closer to You and keenly feel Your comfort, love, mercy, and grace.
