“Moreover, keep your servant from willful sins; do not let them rule me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed from blatant rebellion.” Psalm 19:13 CSB

Presumptuous, willful sins are done intentionally and knowingly. These sins are often characterized by the thought, “I know this is wrong but I am going to do it anyway.” These sins are done in open rebellion against God’s ways and commands. Often they are dominating stronghold sins that rule and ruin one’s life. David prays for cleansing forgiveness and deliverance from these sins. Filling one’s mind and life with God’s Word can be a strong defense against the open rebellion of willful sin.

Lord Jesus, I desire to be upright and blameless yet blatant sins challenge my commitment. Keep me from these willful sins so that I will obey Your Word.
