“The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And have not wickedly departed from my God.” Psalm 18:20-21 NASB

God rescued and rewarded David because of his righteousness and blamelessness for he had kept the ways of the Lord. David was not perfect or sinless. David had sinned greatly as demonstrated in the taking of Bathsheba and the murder of Uriah. But in contrition David repented and returned to the Lord. With his whole heart David sought God. David was declared blameless and righteous because of his trust in God.

Lord God, though I am a sinner You have declared me righteous and blameless because the blood of Jesus cleanses me. Having placed my trust in Jesus, I desire to love and obey all of Your Word.
