“The LORD is good, a stronghold in a day of distress; He cares for those who take refuge in Him.” Nahum 1:7 HCSB

In the midst of dark and troubling times of exile and judgment of evil, Nahum reminds God’s people that the Almighty Lord God is their hope, refuge, and strength. While God is the great Judge who will pour out His wrath and punishment upon evil, He is also mindful of those who trust in Him. Even while the days of evil flourish, God shows He knows and cares for His people. He is their stronghold, their fortress, their protector, their refuge, their hiding place, and their hope.

Lord Jesus, You watch over me and sustain me even as evil abounds around me. In these times of distress and trouble, I trust in You alone and find comfort and strength in Your goodness and care.
