Praising the Savior
Matthew 21:9

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“Then the crowds who went ahead of him and those who followed shouted: Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” Matthew 21:9 CSB

As Jesus approached Jerusalem at the beginning of what would become known as passion week, the crowds were shouting their praise to God for the coming of the Messiah, the Savior. Hosanna was literally a plea meaning “God save us” and was used as a praise to God for His salvation. They acknowledged and honored Jesus as representing God, coming in the authority and name of the Lord. They praised the Lord God in heaven for sending the much needed Savior.

Lord Jesus, in these troubling times, I recognize and affirm that my only deliverance comes from You. Let my voice and my life praise and glorify You, my Savior and my King.
