“But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:20 HCSB

Joseph’s world was crashing in around him. One can only imagine the pain, gloom, and depression he must have felt. His bride, before they were together, was pregnant. Joseph was considering what that meant and how to get out of the relationship, when God intervened. The angel told him don’t be afraid. Many times in scripture we find the encouragement “do not be afraid.” God brings peace in the midst of crisis. He calls us to trust in Him and not our emotions, our intellect, or our circumstances.

Lord Jesus, You bring comfort and assurance in the midst of trouble times. Help me to trust in You and find peace even during the turmoil and trials of daily life.
