“Now the word of the LORD came to me saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.’” Jeremiah 1:4-5 NASB

In an amazing verse, God did four things. First, He formed Jeremiah in his mother’s womb. The word formed is also used in Genesis when God formed the man and woman out of the dust. Second, God knew Jeremiah which describes an intimate and experiential knowledge. Third, God consecrated Jeremiah, setting him apart for His use through a life of holiness and righteousness. Fourth, God appointed Jeremiah to be a special prophet to speak His Word to the nations.

Lord Jesus, I am reminded of the sanctity of human life where even in the womb You know us. I am humbled to think that You call us to be Your witnesses, sharing the gospel to all people.
