Put Away
Ephesians 4:31

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.” Ephesians 4:31 NASB

Paul lists six sinful characteristics that must be removed from the believer’s life. Bitterness is longstanding resentment that exhibits hostility and animosity toward others. Wrath is a sudden outburst that explodes in uncontrolled anger and harshness. Anger is enduring and festering ire and temper. Clamor is loud angry shouting and quarreling. Slander is speaking evil and destroying another’s reputation. Malice is the intense desire to do vicious and spiteful harm to another.

Lord Jesus, may these evil attitudes and actions be put out of my life. Instead let my life be filled with forgiveness and kindness, expressing Your mercy and grace.
