Darkened and Hard Hearts
Ephesians 4:18

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.” Ephesians 4:18 ESV

The minds of the unbelievers, people without Christ, are darkened and corrupted by sin. Their understanding is limited and controlled by the darkness and foulness of sin. The ways of God are strange and foreign to them like a foreign and unknown world. Their hearts have been hardened by sin and the sinful and depraved world they live in each day. Their cold and insensitive hearts have no understanding of God nor desire to know God or to experience the warmth of the love, mercy, and grace of God in Christ.

Lord Jesus, help me to show Your love and grace to those hardened by sin. Let my life, my words and deeds, be a light that points others to life in You.
