Under Subjection
Ephesians 1:22

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,” Ephesians 1:22 NASB

First, God the Father has placed all things, every person, every nation, every power, everything, under the sovereign Lordship of God the Son. This sovereign authority is pictured by the expression that He put all things under His feet, under His control. Second, Christ is the head, the ruler, of the church. The church is to be governed and led by the power and sovereign rule of Jesus, not by the power or will of man. The church is not subject to people’s desires, wishes, ideas, or plans, but to Christ’s commands.

Lord Jesus, I have tried to rule over things, and even the church, instead of being an obedient servant guided and led by Your Word. I yield to You, my Sovereign King.
