“We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.” 2 Thessalonians 1:3 NIV

Paul felt a sense of obligation to give thanks to God for the Thessalonians. Giving thanks was not an option, rather it was the right thing to do. Paul thanked God because the Thessalonians were maturing in their faith and abounding in their love. One’s faith and love cannot remain static. They are constantly changing. Believers must seek to always be growing in their faith relationship with Jesus and with other believers.

Lord Jesus, I am thankful for the church to which I belong. Help me to continue to grow in my faith and express that faith by loving others.
