“Looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!” 2 Peter 3:12 NASB

The believer who is living a holy and godly lifestyle will look forward to the Day of the Lord when God will wipe away all evil. Believers long for that day when God will reign and rule over the new heavens and the new earth. Just as Jesus taught the disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come,” they yearn to see the Holy and Almighty God reign. There is an earnest desire to see evil destroyed and godliness prevail. It is a mystery as to exactly how believers will “hasten the coming day.”

Lord Jesus, I don’t understand the complexity and mystery of Your coming again. Yet help me to live a godly and holy lifestyle looking forward to that Day.
