A Time of Judgment

“For the time has come for judgment to begin with God's household, and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?” 1 Peter 4:17 HCSB
The word “time” denotes a season or period of time. “God’s household” is the family of God, those who have trusted in the salvation of God through Jesus Christ. It refers to the whole congregation, the church, to all believers. “Judgment” denotes first the punishment and cleansing of sins. Second, it means the refining and purifying of the believers. God has chosen this period of time to begin judging and purifying His people. If God judges His own people who trust and obey the gospel, then He will most assuredly judge those who are disobedient and who have rejected Jesus.
Lord Jesus, I am thankful that You bore the punishment for my sins on the cross and provided salvation for me and for all who trust in You. Give me strength as I go through the trials, the sufferings, and the refining process of life, so that I might bring honor and glory to You.
