“'A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense'; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed.” 1 Peter 2:8 NASB

The people who reject Jesus, the “Cornerstone,” are doomed. They find Jesus offensive and thus “stumble” over Him. They refuse to turn from their sin and trust Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord. Thus, they reject Him and His Word. They willfully disobey God’s Word. For this rejection the disobedient will face judgment and God’s wrath against their sin. God will hold them accountable for their choice of rejecting Jesus and not obeying His commands. These unbelievers will face the predetermined consequence for their rejection which is eternal punishment in the place called Hell.

Lord Jesus, only You can provide forgiveness and eternal life. Help me to tell others how to avoid “stumbling” but instead to find salvation by placing their trust in You as their Savior and Lord.
