“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” 1 John 4:15 NASB

Salvation is limited to “whoever confesses.” The possibility is open for all people to abide in God, but it is limited only to those who confess Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord. To “confess” literally means to say the same thing or to agree with someone. Here the idea is to agree that Jesus is the only Son of God. This confession includes the idea that Jesus is Savior, providing the only way for one to have their sins forgiven and eternal life in heaven. It also includes the idea that Jesus is Lord, that He is the ruler of one’s life. When this confession is made, God abides in the person and he in God.

Lord Jesus, You are indeed my Savior and Lord providing me with salvation and eternal life. Help me to live this day that others would see Jesus in me.
