“For this is the message you have heard from the beginning: we should love one another.” 1 John 3:11 HCSB

John is making a transition to a new section about loving one another. The message taught by Jesus and the apostle from the very beginning is based on love. God loves us, and we must love Him and love other people. This message of loving others is part of the foundation for the Christian life. Jesus taught that others will know His disciples by their love for one another. This love is the mark of a disciple. The believer’s life is to be characterized by a habit of righteousness and love.

Lord Jesus, help my life to be filled with love for others. I want Your love to be seen in my attitudes and actions.
