“And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.” 1 John 2:28 NASB

How will the believer react when Christ comes back? Will he express confidence like a person boldly standing before a group and speaking with no fear because he is abiding in Christ? Or will he shrink away from Jesus ashamed and speechless with guilt and disgrace because of the life he has lived? John encourages the believer to be ready for Christ’s return by abiding in Him. Abiding means to continue or to remain in close communion with Christ. It means to continually draw closer and deeper in one’s relationship with Christ.

Lord Jesus, help me to live obediently following You. I want to be faithful to You this day so that when You come again, I will be ready.
