“For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel to this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from one dwelling place to another.” 1 Chronicles 17:5 NASB

God reminded David that His dwelling place among the children of Israel had not been a permanent house of wood and stone. His tabernacle was a tent just like His people lived in as they traveled through the desert from Egypt to the Promise Land. God’s presence was among His people wherever they went. He was not limited to a single place or a special structure, but He dwelt with His people. Centuries later Jesus would come and “dwell with us” as God in human flesh.

Lord Jesus, it amazes me that You, the Almighty God, would desire a personal relationship with Your people. Help me to be aware of Your guiding presence in my life.
